An Ode To A Childhood Classic

When I was a kid I used to get home kind of late in the day. Luckily there was often something delicious plated up in the fridge for me to eat but sometimes I was on my own. Most nights that meant firing up our trusty GE Electric oven and cooking a couple of Stouffer's French Bread Pepperoni Pizzas - A Bonafide Miracle Of Modern Food Science. The perfect way to cook these (and most frozen pizzas) in my humble opinion is to cook the crust first. Our oven had two heating elements and you could turn just a single one on at a time so I would start with the lower one for half the cook time and then switch on the higher one for the last half. Maybe 30 seconds to a minute on broil to ensure perfectly crispy cheese and I had pizza perfection. I've moved many times in my life, cooked in many ovens, and have found that only a toaster oven replicates the bake style of that legendary GE. The secret is to not eat these right away lest you scar the roof of your mouth. But l was rarely able to resist in the past & I'm still really lousy at doing so. Anybody else have a frozen pizza story or technique to share?
